Abstract
Attention is given to topics in extragalactic astronomy and cosmology, galactic structure, stellar movements, astrometry, astrophysics, interstellar matter and nebulae, the solar system, and techniques of instrumentation and computation. Conference papers are presented concerning neutral hydrogen in the early universe, objects with UV excess in the region of the south galactic pole, the precise optical positions of southern radio sources, the interaction of two contrasting galactic groups, the object NGC 55, the preliminary results of a galactic background survey at 45 MHz, and a search for binaries among short- period southern Cepheids. Also considered are mass loss from hot stars, W-R stars, transition region models for Be stars, the cooling trend in FG Saggitae, stellar winds in O-type stars, the fine structure of high velocity clouds, two new water vapor emission sources in the southern hemisphere, chemical enrichment in halo planetary nebulae, IR observations of comets, periodic comet light curves, ice particles in circular solar orbits, and the use of a laser in the collimation of a Schmidt camera.
