Abstract

Observations of several southern H II regions in the H166α line, are reported. Using the LTE approximation, the electron temperatures (Te*) are derived. These Te* values are used together with those derived by Pedlar (1980) from H166α observations, with a similar antenna beam, to derive a gradient in the electron temperature with the galactocentric distance. The gradient obtained, (310 K kpc-1) is in good agreement with those derived from surveys in other recombination lines.
