Abstract

Parametric potentials consisting of a sum of Y'ikawa terms plus a long-ranged Coulomb tail can provide atomic data of accuracy comparable to singleconfiguration, self-consistent field calculations with relativistic corrections. The method is used to generate prefitted effective potentials for isoelectronic sequences up to zinc, not only for valence electrons but also for multiply excited configurations as well as inner-core excitations. Comparisons to experimental and other theoretical calculations are presented. Key words: ATOMIC PROCESSES - PLASMAS - TRANSITION PROBABILITIES
