Abstract
TOPBASE is the first prototype in the development of a tailored DBMS for the efficient manipulation of the large volume of atomic data that resulted from the "Opacity -Project". We describe the details of the adopted conceptual approach, its physical design and query language. A few examples are included to illustrate its present search, data manipulation and graphic capabilities. Key words: ATOMIC PROCESSES
