Abstract
We present laboratory experiments and numerical simulations of the interaction between two explosions. In the laboratory, two expanding shock waves were produced using two Nd: YAG lasers, and the numerical simulations were carried out with the yguazú-a code (Raga et al. 2000). We show that the numerical simulations and laboratory experiments agree in a satisfactory way, and we discuss the general properties of the resulting flows. Finally, we discuss the similarities and differences between the laboratory experiments and some astrophysical objects.
