Abstract
We investigate the systematic errors of radial velocities measured on spectra obtained with the image-tube spectrograph of the 1-rn (Yale) telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory. Data from other authors and our own suggest that those errors are caused by the dispersion of the stellar light in the atmosphere of the Earth, which has been invoked to explain similar errors obtained with other instruments.
