Abstract
. The continuum at 1410 MHz has been observed in a region of about 100x100 covering the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). The high sensitivity of the data made it possible to detect en extended weak component that has been previously detected at 408 MHz but not at 1410 MHz. The spectral index between 408 MHz and 1410 MHz found for this component (a -0.98) is steeper than the index found for the central part (a = -0.56). This behaviour makes the SMC more similar to normal spiral galaxies than to other irregular galaxies. The relation between the continuum at 1410 MHz and other objects of the SMC is discussed.
