Abstract
A study of ultraviolet images of β Persei secured at different phases in the orbital cycle suggests that there are non-thermal sources of energy and perhaps two regions of high electron temperature in the system, similarly to what Sahade and Ferrer and Sahade and Hernández had previously suggested in the case of AU Monocerotis and of γ1Velorum, respectively. The ultraviolet continuum comes from component A of the system, and all ultraviolet lines, except perhaps the resonance lines of C IV, share the motion of this B8 V component.Similar Articles
