Polarimetric determination of spatial orbital orientation of the binary systems γ1 and γ2Vel. (1985). Revista Mexicana De Astronomía Y Astrofísica, 10(1), 267-276. https://astronomia.unam.mx/journals/rmxaa/article/view/1985rmxaa..10..267l

Abstract

Models on circumstellar polarization in close binary systems have been used to estimate the spatial orientations of the orbits of γ1 and γ2Vel. Observations made in Johnson B, V filters and Strömgren v, y filters have shown polarimetric phase variations of the double-locked type such as those predicted by models with Thomson scattering in a circumstellar envelope. The variations were adjusted to the models which provide the inclination of the orbital plane, the orientation of the normal to the orbit and the sense of revolution of each system.
