Abstract
This study is based upon 89 stars taken from the Bright Star Catalog to measure the total absorption of the He I line at λ10830 Å. It is defined a ψ(25) index in the same fashion as the α(16) and Λ(9) indices. The results are compared with Zirin's equivalent widths, and with the α(16)Λ(9) photometric system.
