Abstract

The observations of fast winds (v ≥ 100 km s-1) around low-luminosity, pre-main-sequence stars support a picture in which the fast wind leaves the star, mostly neutral and rather cool (T ≤ 7000-8000K). At ≡100 AU from the star, the gas temperature is still a few thousand degrees, either because the gas has never cooled below that temperature, or because something happens that re-heats it at that typical distance from the star. The slow molecular outflow, revealed by CO braod wings (Δν ≡ 10-20 km s-1), is swept-up matter from the ambient cloud.
