On the nature of the centimeter continuum emission from the FU Orionis stars V1057 Cyg and Elias 1-12. (1992). Revista Mexicana De Astronomía Y Astrofísica, 24(1), 135. https://astronomia.unam.mx/journals/rmxaa/article/view/1992rmxaa..24..135r

Abstract

Using the Very Large Array the authors observed at 2 and 1.3-cm the FU Orionis stars V1057 Cyg and Elias 1-12. Both stars were detected as unresolved sources at 2-cm and upper limits for their flux densities were set at 1.3 cm. The new results, combined with the published 3.6 cm flux densities, permit the authors to establish that the emission from these stars in the centimeter wavelengths has a spectral index of ≡0.7, characteristic of free-free emission from ionized outflows. The estimated ionized mass loss rates for both V1057 Cyg and Elias 1-12 are ≡10-7Msunyr-1, much lower than the maximum mass loss rates observed from FU Orionis objects. In the case of V1057 Cyg, optical constraints suggest that the wind may be only about 10% ionized.
