Abstract
The scientific presentations and discussion of the IXth Latin American Regio nal IAU Meeting were centered on ten well defined topics covering most areas of astronomy: solar system dynamics; binary stars; compact stars and supernova pr ogenitors; stellar ejecta and its interaction with the environment; stellar pop ulations; clusters and stellar associations; galaxy formation and evolution; ac tive galaxies and nuclei; and large latinamerican instrumentation projects. Whi le talks were centered on these subjects, poster presentations covered all them es. This meeting also included PhD thesis presentations from eight recently gra duated latinamerican astronomers.
