Abstract
: The lUE high dispersion spectra of Y2 Velorum taken in the years 1978-80 have been analyzed, as far as the behavior of the line profiles is concerned, with the use of plots secured at the RDAF, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Such an analysis provides evidence for the existence of a) absorption features arising in the photosphere of the WR star; -l b) an expanding envelope with a velocity of about -1300 km 5 c) "gas streaming" from the Wolf - Rayet component in a direc tion that makes an angle of 950 with the radius vector joining the two components of the system; d) absorption features that arise in the very outer layers of the circumbinary envelope. A models is proposed with the interpretation of the observed line structur The paper in full will be published elsewhere.
