Abstract

Papers and abstracts on optical astronomy research in Chile are presented, covering topics such as extrameridian astrometry at the Cerro Calan Observatory, the massive O-type binary HD 47129, carbon stars, low mass star formation, diffuse interstellar bands, the archaeoastronomy of Easter Island, and Gamma Bootis stars. Additional topics include mapping the structure of the southern Galaxy, astronomical data reduction, the NGC 1399 globular cluster system, and observational cosmology in the southern sky. Other topics include the determination of the orbital periods of CP Puppis and T Pyxidis, the luminosity curves of the II Peg and V711 Tau, the abundances of Magellanic cloud clusters, the dynamics and substructure in clusters of galaxies, and spectroscopic observations of seven Be stars.
