Code of ethics

Editorial Values

RMxAC operates under editorial policies designed to guarantee the integrity and quality of all published material, as well as to maintain strict confidentiality during the editing process. The journal adheres to the principles of transparency, inclusion, and global access. These values can be consulted on the RMxAC web platform.

Special Editors are requested to sign a confidentiality document, stating that they have received, read, and accepted the principles, values, and standards of conduct contained in the Code of Ethics of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México approved by the University Council on July 1, 2015, the Code of Ethics and Scientific Academic Integrity approved by the Internal Council of the IA-UNAM on November 4, 2020, and commit to conducting their actions in strict adherence to these Instruments.

Originality Verification Procedure

Given the nature of publishing congress proceedings, the materials are sometimes original research, other times ongoing research, and still others refer to comprehensive reviews of a particular topic. These materials are frequently recognized and assigned different lengths in the publication.

Artificial Intelligence Use Policy

Authors must clearly indicate whether they used artificial intelligence (AI) code for their analyses or even for drafting their manuscripts. At the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief and the Special Editor, these inclusions may be acceptable or pertinent. Under no circumstances are works accepted where the majority or entirety of the analyses or texts have been carried out using artificial intelligence language models (LLMs).

The Editor-in-Chief and the Special Editor may, at their discretion, use language models to check specific citations or references. However, during the copyediting process, the Technical Editor is tasked with reviewing the complete list of references for each contribution, verifying the validity of Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) whenever they exist. The current policy of RMxAC is not to perform this part of the process with language models, due to the potential danger of such models generating false references or errors through "hallucinations."

During the copyediting process, RMxAC accepts the use of spelling and grammar checking software as an auxiliary tool, but LLMs are not used to automate the copyediting of an article either partially or entirely.
