Fine structure in high velocity clouds. (1981). Revista Mexicana De Astronomía Y Astrofísica, 6(1), 255-257. https://astronomia.unam.mx/journals/rmxaa/article/view/1981rmxaa...6..255m

Abstract

Two clouds, HVC 287.5+22.5+240 and HVC 333-15.5-90, have been observed in the H I 21 cm line, with an angular resolution o 35 arcmin and a velocity resolution of 2 km/s. The data are used to draw contour maps of the clouds. The map of HVC 287.5+22.5.240 shows several unresolved structures. The velocities of the peak intensities of those concentrations seem to indicate the presence of a velocity gradient. HVC 333-15.5-90 shows a bright unresolved peak and an extended envelope typical of isolated HVC's found in the northern hemisphere. The masses for the two complexes are measured at 4000 and 490 times the unknown distance in kpc squared, respectively. It is concluded that neither of the clouds belongs to the Magellanic Stream.
