Investigating the Early Phases of Massive Star Formation Using 6.7 GHz Methanol Masers
Abstract:Understanding how massive stars form remains one of the central challenges in astrophysics because their earliest stages are deeply embedded within dense clouds of gas and dust. Class II 6.7 GHz methanol masers are among the best tracers of these young massive stellar objects, making them powerful probes of the earliest phases of high-mass star […]
The Chiral Puzzle of Life

Supernova-induced cosmic radiation has been proposed as a potential driver of biological evolution. In particular, muons generated through parity-violating weak interactions possess a net spin polarization that may have introduced subtle biases during polymerization, potentially influencing the emergence of the homochiral molecular architecture universally observed in terrestrial biology. In this presentation, I will examine the […]

What if gravity is the actual agent regulating star formation?
Star formation is often described as the outcome of a balance between gravity and turbulence. In this talk, I will argue that this picture is fundamentally misleading. I will show that molecular cloud turbulence is not the agent regulating star formation, but largely a manifestation of gravitationally driven flows. Molecular clouds, clumps, and cores participate […]
Cosmic Webs and Flows: Connections to Earthly Systems and Spins
The cosmic web is the largest flow system in the universe. It resembles some other flow networks found on earth, and even in the human body: water in river networks, blood in veins, arteries, and air in lungs. I will describe some results arising from an analogy between the cosmic web and a few different […]
Identidad Digital del Autor: ORCID, Scopus, Web of Science y ADS
The connections between the chemical abundances of stars and their exoplanetary systems

The stellar metallicity influences the occurrence of giant and small hot exoplanets. However, the role of elements other than iron on planetary formation is still unclear. In this talk, I will discuss the relations between the abundances of 13 chemical elements (Na, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, and Cu) […]
CPDs and regular satellite formation around giant planets
We present results of the highest resolution, global, MHD simulations to date of the flow around a newly formed planet of Neptune or Jupiter-like mass, embeded in a magnetized, turbulent protoplanetary disk. In addition to the development of MRI turbulence in the CPD and the ej of highly collimated jets, we discuss possible implications of […]
